Usually you only get to see these guys underwater, as they keep themselves cool in the Florida heat. But head to Kilimanjaro Safaris in the morning or just near sunset and you may find these impressive hippos prowling the water's edge.

Be Careful Up There!
I call this photo "BE CAREFUL UP THERE". At first, I thought this Patterson's Eland was watching out for the Kilimanjaro Safari truck, but after looking a little closer it is clear she is really concerned about that zookeeper climbing precariously up the tree. I mean, that's the food truck and it needs it's driver!
Patterson's Elands are big and impressive animals. From looking at their physique, you would never know what incredible jumpers they are, which is probably why they don't let them into the gift shops.

What You Lookin At?? Scimitar-Horned Oryx
Jungle Jim has checked back in with us today for the first time in a few days with a gorgeous photo he took of this scimitar-horned oryx. Is it me or is this guy not exactly thrilled to have a tourist photographing his profile?
These amazingly beautiful creatures are, if I am not mistaken, extinct in the wild. Thanks mostly to hunting by humans, of course. Now I don't want to get preachy here, but how more stories like this are we willing to live with?

Soak Up The Sun
I have an enduring affection for the tigers of Maharajah Jungle Trek. I can trace my love of Disney's Animal Kingdom directly back to an evening spent watching these girls and snapping away with my old Nikon film camera.

Which Way Did He Go?
A walk through the Pangani Forest Exploration is one of the truly great experiences of Disney's Animal Kingdom and one of its most enjoyable exhibits is the local colony of meerkats. When you go see them, you will likely notice they always have one member of the colony up high on the rocks looking out for danger. What the other two are looking at in this photo at is impossible to tell. Considering the complete lack of danger these guys face at Disney's Animal Kingdom, one can only assume the lookout's job is particularly uneventful anyway.

Masai Giraffe
Today's photo is of a beautiful Masai Giraffe. This girl can be found strutting her stuff along the plains of Kilimanjaro Safari. She likes to pose for a glamour pic!

Wakey Wakey Mister Tiger
Today's photo comes from a morning trip to the Maharajah Jungle Trek, where apparently Jungle Jim's Hawaiian shirt and Bermuda shorts combo must have been loud enough to wake this tiger from a nice nap.

The Easy Life
Life on the Kilimanjaro Safari Savannah does appear to be the four-legged equivalent of a week on the beach in Anguilla, doesn't it?
